  • How do I fill my Steam Engine, Stationary Engine etc with water."
    1) Remove safety valve and insert filler funnel. 2) Fill boiler up to the level indicator on site glass, using hot water for a longer run. 3) Replace safety valve, using fingers to screw up tight. 4) If the water level falls below the bottom of the sight glass, the burner should be removed and the boiler refilled.   • Lighting the burner.
    1) Use only Mamod solid tablets, placing 2 tablets on the burner tray. 2) Light the tablets from the front end and carefully sile the burner tray into the firebox. 3) Secure with scuttle if applicable.
  • Running the engine.
    1) Thoroughly oil all working parts, bearing, pistons etc (Use medium grade motor oil (SAE 10/30 or similar) 2) The engine should also be oiled occasionally during each run. 3) When the steam is up, the engine will start with a few turns of the flywheel. 4) If applicable the engine will run in the direction the control lever is pointing.   • DO NOT
    1) Do not hold down the safety valve or tamper with it in any way. 2) Do not remove the safety valve while there may still be pressure in the boiler. (Replease remaining steam by operating the whistle. 3) Do not refill the burner without refilling the boiler. 4) Do not overfill the burner tray.   • General Hints
    1) Before each run, flush out boiler with hot/boiling water. 2) The engine should only be run on a smooth and level surface. (Not on a carpet) 3) After using the engine, drain all the water from the engine. See downloadable instructions for runing specific engines.
